The Sacrament of Confirmation is usually celebrated when a student enters into Grade seven (7) and preparation begins in September as soon as the children return to school. As is the case for all Sacramental preparation in the Diocese of Pembroke, the preparation for the sacraments is parish based, which means that all preparation and training is taught in the parish by trained catechists. The parents of children presently in Gradesix (6) and up at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School or in one of the French or Public schools or High Schools, must register their child at one of the registration days that will be advertised beginning in late April or early May. Please watch for the notice in the Sunday bulletin. At the registration and information session, you will need to bring a copy of your child's Baptismal Certificate. If your child was baptized in our parish, there is no reason to do so.
If you are newly arrived in the Parish then please contact the Parish Office for information about registration.
As with First Eucharist, this parish honours the responsibility of parents of being the first teachers of their child in the ways of faith. Parents will be invited to parent/candidate meetings at which time you will receive the necessary material for your child’s preparation.
Our parish catechists will work with small groups of the candidates, outside of school hours, to ensure their understanding of this Sacrament.
We look forward to working with you.
Teens orAdults who have never been confirmed are invited to call our Parish Office for information.
